Lucie is making plans to depart her small Illinois town and see the world when an old flame shows up and her plans go awry. Lucie wants to have her own way. She ignores her brother when he warns her to stay away from Cain. Cain is out for money and since he can't get a loan because of bad credit, he sets his eye on Lucie. Lucie just received a 17,000 settlement from a previous job and Cain convinces Lucie to invest in his candy shop. Lucie's brother, who works for a bank, stops payment on the check in order to protect his sister. This leads to Lucie and Cain eloping and within six months or so, Cain has spent all of Lucie's money on other women. Cain had a feud going with another candy shop in town and Lucie never knew why, until near the end of the book. When Cain dies, people expect Lucie to move out of town. But, she seems to take up where Cain left off or does she? I really didn't like this book based on theology that was presented. You cannot pray someone into heaven. It doesn't work that way. Each person has a choice they have to make for themselves. If you live for the devil, your eternal home is Hell. If you ask God to forgive you of your sins, you go to Heaven when you die. (And when you become a Christian, you quit sinning) I want to be careful on how I address the angel that appeared to Lucie. However, I am not so sure that is how God works when He sends His angels to help. I am not planning on rereading this book.Product details

Wrestling Icgabod is a great read! It deals sensitively with timeless issues such as forgiveness, redemption, family, and love in a modern context. All of the characters are rounded and complete. The happy ending is poignantly crafted to present closure to the story. Great read!
I knew I liked this book but I almost didn't realize how much! I didn't want to stop reading it! It was a rather unusual book but very understandable. It was about human nature & how & why we do things. Whether we believe in God, prayer & angels or think it's all nonsense. It's about misunderstandings, grudges & people hurting. Mostly, it's about love & peace. Try it... I think you'll like it! )
This story is a wonderful mix of whimsy and heart tugging realism. Take a young widow left with a chocolate shop, throw in an angel who loves chocolate and STIR WELL.
Lucie is a young woman with hopes and dreams, wanting to leave her family and enjoy adventure. When she is naively tricked by her "crush" from the past, she marries him and loses an inheritance to his schemes.
An accident takes her husbands life (along with a mystery woman). Lucie tries to pull the chocolate shop out of debt. Exhausted and overwhelmed, she finally meets Ichobod, the angel.
The story is just the right blend of humor and mystery for men, women and teens who enjoy a good "read" with some puzzle pieces missing (until the end).
This is my first Diane Adams book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters were well developed, the plot was interesting and well-paced and the Christian message was clearly explained without being used to bludgeon the reader. I will look for other books by Ms. Adams.
Lucie is shopping at the same time Mark is, they are at the same store. He even helped her get her van started. How could he pretend to be a good guy? When she gets back to her store it was to find out her husband had died in a car accident. And then things get worse. I enjoyed this and hope to read more. Perfect ending.
I really enjoyed the romance and liked the hero and heroine. However, I felt that Ichabod was added just because it's trendy to have angels in novels. He didn't actually do anything to advance the story, and chocolate-loving angels named Ichabod don't exactly fit with the Bible.
Wrestling Ichabod was very well written and portrayed characters who remained very true to life. Some reviews have said the heroine was a bit of a downer - but I believe that is testament to the quality of writer Adams is. The heroine had just lost her husband and he'd fed her a pack of lies for months. Of course she isn't just going to be able to let go of those suspicions easily. I feel the author did a fabulous job portraying a realistic scenario here. The mystery added just the right touch to the sweet and gentle romance to make for a very enjoyable clean read.
AND!!! I will NEVER look at a piece of chocolate the same way again! Wow what a lot of work to go through! My back ached just reading about the hours she spent mixing, and pouring, and scraping, and tempering, and rolling, and dipping, and cupping, and, and, and...
If you enjoy a clean, sweet (no pun intended - okay, maybe a little ;)) romance, I highly recommend Wrestling Ichabod!
